Solutions for RoHS 2.0 Compliance | PBB & PBDE Mixed Standards and QC Samples in Stock at CATO
As environmental regulations continue to tighten, restrictions on hazardous substances in the electrical and electronic equipment industry have become increasingly important. The EU's Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS) aims to eliminate hazardous substances in electrical and electronic products, including six substances: lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs), and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs).
What are PBBs and PBDEs?
Both PBBs and PBDEs belong to brominated flame retardants (BFRs). BFRs are widely used industrial chemicals found in printed circuit boards, plastics, coatings, wires and cables, and resin-based electronic components.

PBBs and PBDEs are also persistent organic pollutants (POPs). They persist in the environment for a long time, are difficult to degrade and do not readily volatilize, and tend to accumulate in organisms and human fat. Their main hazards to humans include affecting the immune system, causing cancer, and damaging brain and nerve tissues.
In addition to the RoHS Directive, the regulation of emerging persistent organic pollutants has become an important topic in environmental protection. PBBs and PBDEs have attracted widespread attention due to their environmental persistence and bioaccumulation.
In early September, the General Office of China's Ministry of Ecology and Environment issued the "National Implementation Plan for the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (2023 Supplement) (Draft for Comments)", proposing strengthened control measures for PBDEs.

The continuous tightening of environmental regulations and the growing attention to emerging persistent pollutants make the detection and quality control of PBBs and PBDEs particularly important.
To meet market demand, CATO has launched a series of PBB and PBDE mixed standards and quality control samples, with stable domestic stock availability, to help product testing better comply with the RoHS Directive and ensure the environmental friendliness and sustainability of your products.
